Baruten Local Government, located in the northwestern part of Kwara State and sharing a border with Benin Republic, is one of the largest LGAs in the state. Its vast landmass and dispersed settlements make election logistics and voter mobilization unique compared to urban areas. With a sizeable voting population, Baruten holds strategic importance during state and federal elections. Political parties often pay special attention to grassroots campaigning here, as the outcome in Baruten can significantly impact overall results in Kwara North and contribute to the wider state balance. Baruten Local Government comprises of 10 Wards and 211 polling units.
